Event description

Description

United is pleased to host a screening of the documentary Voices Beyond the Wall: Twelve Love Poems from the Murder Capital of the World with Spencer Reece.

Voices Beyond the Wall tells the story of how Spencer, an award-winning American poet and Episcopal priest, taught poetry to girls at Our Little Roses, an orphanage in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and how the girls found their voices through poetry.

Before the film, Spencer will talk about his experiences working with the girls and share some of their poems. Spencer's talk and the screening start at 7 p.m.

A limited number of seats are available for a 5:30 p.m. dinner with Spencer before this event.

A premium option is available to two people. It includes the dinner, the screening and a copy of Counting Time Like People Count Stars, a book of the girls' poetry, signed by Spencer.

Scholarships are available for students. Please see Jennifer Awes Freeman for a promo code.

Prospective students can attend for free. Please select "other" to register and use the promo code that Admissions will provide.

Proceeds will go to Our Little Roses.
