This workshop focuses on key voice over fundamentals and how to apply to an already successful acting career:
-How do your existing acting skills translate to the microphone.
-How to act with your entire voice, rather than your entire body.
-Is your voice alone suited for Voice-Over acting?
-How to get started: First things, first - What is involved in becoming a working VO talent?
-What to study: You're already studying acting...now learn what to study for VO acting techniques
-Understanding the different key VO delivery styles
-How to apply the proper skills to each copy or script - delivering the intent of the script. Telling the story.
-Identifying YOUR sound. What is your strong-suit?
-Understanding the different VO markets
-What is needed on demos - where to have them produced
-Finding an agent, if you don't already have one
-Social Media and the Voice-Over talent - marketing yourself
-Each participant will work hands on with script material during the workshop, with constructive critique.
BIO for UMBERGER AGENCY and JEFFREY UMBERGER:
Owner Jeffrey Umberger's strong reputation and history in entertainment stretches back over 30 years. He was a Casting Producer for 2 seasons on DIY Network's hit show 'MEGA DENS'. He once did some scouting for the Television series 'COLLECTOR INSPECTOR' on HGTV, and 'BREATHING ROOM' on Fine Living Network. He later began working in commercial casting with Casting Director Kris Redding. It was after this that Jeffrey began his career as a successful talent agent. Jeffrey now owns Umberger Agency, with one of the most highly respected Voice-Over talent rosters in the country.
As a Voice-Over Agent, Jeffrey has placed talent with Tyler Perry's 'HOUSE OF PAYNE', 'SINGLE LADIES' on VH1, HGTV, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, DIY Network, PBS, The Travel Channel, The Food Network, Fine Living Network, The Cooking Channel, and Georgia Public Broadcasting, among others. National Commercial credits
include McDonalds, Coca-Cola, The Home Depot, Publix, Dove, AT&T, Verizon, REI, Wilson, BB&T, and UPS. He has long been affiliated with Music, Acting, and Photography.
An accomplished musician, he enjoyed a 23-year long career as a society keyboardist in Atlanta and Los Angeles, most notably performing Jazz and Classical at the legendary Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Buckhead. As a composer, he scored music for the Billy Dee Williams film 'GOOD NEIGHBOR', the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, a UPS Commercial, an animated short film from 'SOUTH PARK' animator Dustin Woehrmann, and numerous other projects. In 2003 Jeffrey opened his award winning photography company, Jeddy Photo.
His black and white art photography was purchased as set-design for the TV sitcom 'HOUSE OF PAYNE'. In 2010 and 2011 he was a judge for the Miss Georgia and Miss Tennessee pageants for Greenwood Productions.
Jeffrey had a career in TV and Film as well. In 1988, he began adding Television and Film acting credits to his resume, getting his start on the NBC TV pilot 'A FATHER'S HOMECOMING' with Michael McKeon (Lenny from 'LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY'). Later credits include the role of Bailey Parks in the film 'KILLER NEXT DOOR', starring Billy Dee Williams and Danica McKellar (Winnie from 'THE WONDER YEARS'). He most recently made appearances on Arsenio Hall's show 'THE WORLD'S FUNNIEST MOMENTS', 'THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA', and Tyler Perry's 'HOUSE OF PAYNE'.
He made his stand-up debut at Jerry Farber's Side Door Comedy Club after studying with Comic Josh arris, and can also be seen as the lead in the short film 'STAND UP OR SHUT UP', which recently made it's premiere at the world famous Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood in the Dances With Films Festival. Jeffrey is a main-stage cast member of Atlanta's premiere sketch comedy theater, SKETCHWORKS.
