Metropolitan Family Services Victim Legal Assistance Network (VLAN) and the National Crime Victims Law Institute (NCVLI) are hosting a full- day training for VLAN steering committee organization members on January 17, 2017 at Latham & Watkins.
Participants may choose to attend a portion or the entire day's trainings. Separate certificates for continuing education may be issued for each lecture. Please register by January 6, 2017.
8:30-9 am - Welcome, Goals and objectives for the day
9:00-11:30 am - Effective Services for Victims with Mental Health Impairments (Dr. Christopher F. Wilson, PsyD)
11:30-12:30 pm - working lunch (lunch will be provided )
- Each attendee will be asked to pair up with another attendee from a different agency to discuss the best cross-training they have attended in the past, and identify the following:
1) what characteristics made it stand out;
2) what single item of learning they still remember.
12:30 - 2:30 pm - Cross-disciplinary Training to Enhance Holistic Services for Victims (NCVLI staff)

2:45 - 4:45 pm - Understanding Vicarious Trauma as a Victim Service Provider (Dr. Christopher F. Wilson, PsyD)
