Event description

Description

Long live Frida - Viva Frida art show just in time for Dia de los Muertes celebrates the fabulous artist life of Frida Kahlo. San Diego artist June Rubin reinterprets her painting “Frida Contemplating Death” in her acrylic painting to “Frida Contemplating Life” with a small sprout growing within the circle on her forehead instead of the original skull and cross bones. Other artworks include a fantastical Frida herself transformed into a white "Mad Cat" with huge whiskers and her distinctive black and red unibrow. I am attracted to vivid colored flowers and foliage, as well as Mexican Folk Art and the lush colors of Bali. I often paint outdoors and see my subject matter in natural light, and sometimes I paint purely from my imagination.
