Welcome to Visual-Gestural Communication (VGC)!

This workshop, led by the fabulous Laurie J. Achin, will introduce you to a truly unique volume in non-language communication that is devoted to the study of universal gestures, facial expressions, body language and pantomime. It will help you develop artistic sign language, translation skills and lead you to a better understanding of American Sign Language while leaving the English language at the door. Join us for a fun time virtually while either learning for the first time or refreshing gestural skills for the seasoned participants. Meghan Cowin is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities. This PS program is offered for 0.3 CEUs at the some Content Knowledge Level.

Event Highlights:

  • To identify the difference between gestures, classifiers and signs.
  • To demonstrate receptive comprehension of gestural information.
  • To demonstrate expressive production of gestural information.
  • To demonstrate how to translate concepts into ASL with gestures, classifiers, and signs.

Come be a part of this enriching experience where we delve into the world of VGC and its impact on everyday interactions. See you online!
