About this event

Join us in Driftwood on Saturday, Dec. 3rd for a very special outdoor movie under the stars. This gorgeously filmed nature documentary is directed by Ben Masters and narrated by Matthew McConaughey. Check out the full synopsis below.

5:00 pm: Join us ahead of the movie to enjoy the Beer Garden & Fire Pit with S'mores! Check out Vista's elevated farm-to-table dinner menu and beverage menu of beer, wine, cider and non-alcoholic options. Hot spiced apple cider (non-alcoholic and spiked) will be available from 5:00 pm until sold out.

6:00 pm: Movie begins

8:00 pm: Q&A with Producer Josh Winkler of Fin & Fur Films, Rachael Lindsey (Director of Science and Stewardship for the Hill Country Conservancy) and Kent Killough (Co-Founder of Vista Brewing)

Deep in the Heart is a visually stunning celebration of what makes Texas unique — its diverse landscapes and remarkable wildlife behavior that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Told through the eyes of wildlife species ranging from the mysterious blind catfish to the elusive mountain lion, the story follows our ever-changing relationship with the natural world and showcases our ability to destroy, conserve, and recover wildlife and the habitat we mutually depend on.

Narrated by Matthew McConaughey and featuring state-of-the-art cinematography, this family-friendly film journeys from the highest peaks in West Texas, through our aquifers, rivers, and bays, and deep into the Gulf of Mexico. Deep in the Heart aims to conserve our remaining wild places, to show the connectivity of water and wildlife, and to recognize Texas’ conservation importance on a continental scale.

A few notes:

  • Entry is free, RSVP on Eventbrite.
  • Seating is limited, camp chairs are encouraged. An RSVP does not guarantee a seat at a picnic table.
  • Propane heaters are limited, dress warmly and bring a blanket
  • No outside food and beverage.
  • Movie is weather dependent. In the event of inclement weather, the movie will be moved indoors.
