Jewelry from Found Objects

Renowned German jewelry artist Maria Nevermann is always attuned to her environment, and her work reflects the places she inhabits. In this two-day workshop she will share her unique process for creating contemporary jewelry from found objects. She begins by taking a walk and collecting plastic debris she finds in her hometown or in her extensive travels. Maria creates assemblages from these random fragments, inventing new shapes and color combinations that give the discarded objects a second life. Create wearable art from your own collection of found objects and enhance your finished pieces with gold leaf.

Workshop 2: 1:30pm - 5:00pm, Saturday – Sunday, June 1-2 or 8-9:

Fiber Techniques in Jewelry

In this two-day workshop, German jewelry artist Maria Nevermann will teach an ancient fiber technique for knitting with metal wire, creating lightweight pieces in extraordinary shapes. Maria combines old craft fiber techniques with storytelling to create new expressions of traditional crafts. Students should bring a piece of cloth or clothing that holds special meaning. We will transform these and other materials into wearable art.
