Description

Writing on the Wall - guided art exhibit

November 1st, 11:45am to 2pm at the High Line, New York City

Meet CURE leaders at this traveling exhibition and installation constructed from essays, poems, letters, stories, diagrams, and notes written by individuals in prisons from around the world. The intention of the project is to create awareness about and public sensitivity toward mass incarceration in order to ultimately galvanize grassroots efforts toward prison reform both in the US and abroad. The tour will be guided by two formerly incarcerated individuals. The installation was created by Dr. Baz Dreisinger, author of Incarceration Nations, and artist Hank Willis Thomas.

**We will meet at the 14th Street Passage between Washington Street and Tenth Avenue at 11.45. The tour starts at 12.

The event is presented by C.U.R.E, The Coalition for Understanding Racism Through Education. The coalition is dedicated to bringing a deeper understanding of institutional racism and how it affects our American politics, ideologies, treatment of each other and daily existence as a caste system society. We are hyper focused on serving the Larchmont and Mamaroneck community however, we wholeheartedly welcome anyone who is willing to change their lens around creating equitable institutions for all.
