Description

Syracuse’s Eastwood Neighborhood invites you to join us for this event about how we can work together to ensure that our neighborhood parks are welcoming places that support use and activities by all people.

The Visioning Voices Speaker Series events are open to those who want to learn about how to make positive change in their neighborhood. We encourage community members and neighborhood organizations city-wide to be participate in this event and take lessons learned back to your community. Each event consists of a series of activities to familiarize participants with the host neighborhood and learn about the factors that affect our health and quality of life.

• The Eastwood event will include a guided walking tour of the Eastwood Heights Park and nearby community spaces led by local residents involved in the park activities and Parks Department staff. The tour will highlight existing activities, challenges and potential opportunities.
• Following the tour, our guest speaker Julie Bush, a partner in the landscape architecture firm of Ground Reconsidered in Philadelphia will share her experience of creating parks and public open space in collaboration with multiple stakeholders and how to improve the impact of parks in supporting healthy neighborhoods.
• A community dinner will be prepared by the Palace Theatre.
• The hands-on workshop will provide facilitated activities to practice ideas for effective outreach, participation and decision-making introduced in the presentation
