Event description

Description

Join Artist-in-Residence, Hanna Washburn, at 2pm for a workshop on making your clothes feel special and last longer. Bring your own well-loved clothes that need mending, or any pieces that could use a little extra something. Hanna will provide a variety of materials, and introduce a range of techniques from sewing on buttons, to the Japanese embroidery technique Sashiko Mending. Please join us to learn how to make your wardrobe more ethical, sustainable, handmade, and unique.

Visitors will have about 30 mins of specific mending instruction and then they're free to sit and stitch as the wish! Hanna will be around for several hours to answer questions and provide one on one feedback for your project.

Please bring clothing items that you wish to mend, or something that you simply want to jazz up a bit! Basic materials will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring scraps of fabric or threads of their choice.

Hanna is the current Artist-In-Residence at the Society. You can find more info about her on our Artist-In-Residence page or on her website.
