About Domestic Violence Center of Chester County (DVCC)

According to Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV), 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner in 2019. During that same year, 112 victims died in Pennsylvania in domestic violence incidents; 46% of those were killed by a current or former intimate partner. The dire public health, societal, and human rights consequences of domestic violence are at the heart of DVCCC’s mission to prevent, reduce, and remedy domestic violence in Chester County. The COVID-19 pandemic has had an immediate and shocking impact on people living with domestic violence, making our lifesaving services more essential than ever.

DVCCC is the only organization contracted by the PA Department of Human Services to provide programs exclusively to victims of domestic violence and their dependent children in Chester County. Since we opened our doors 45 years ago, DVCCC has served more than 50,000 victims of domestic abuse, averaging 3,000 new and continuing adult survivors and their children each year. We provide emergency shelter; housing; adult individual and group trauma-informed counseling; legal advocacy and representation; children's counseling and supportive services; and community outreach and education. All of our confidential services are free of charge and provided to all who seek help, regardless of their race; gender; color; creed; age; national origin; sexual identity; sexual orientation; disability; economic, social, or marital status; or political or religious belief.
