This conference will provide participants with the latest advances in trauma care for a variety of situations: pregnancy, burns, airway and CNS trauma, and following combat trauma. A session will also be dedicated towards supporting the mental health of traumatologists. Participants will then be able to provide the highest level of care to patients in these unique and challenging situations.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The target audience is physicians, nurses and other professionals in anesthesiology, surgery, emergency

medicine, military medicine, aerospace medicine, and other areas dedicated to the treatment of trauma.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity the participants will be better able to:

• Discuss strategies to optimize fluid requirements during burn-shock resuscitation

• Evaluating a patient for the presence of airway injury after penetrating neck trauma

• Understanding the benefits of meaning focused coping

• Describe the potential mitigation strategies to combat secondary trauma and compassion fatigue

• Describe the risk and benefits of products currently being tested for resuscitation, including valproic acid, prothrombin complex concentrates, and freeze-dried plasma

• Hemodynamic management in the acute period of a spinal cord injury

• Employ an active management protocol to optimize blood product component therapy for neurotrauma patients with hemorrhagic shock

• To discuss research priorities in TBI
