A VIRTUAL Showcase of the Maritime Blue Innovation Accelerator inaugural cohort!

Washington State is a global leader with investors, maritime and ocean industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and policymakers seeking opportunities to finance and accelerate innovation for a sustainability Blue Economy.

The OECD predicts the global maritime and ocean economy to double to $3 Trillion by 2030.  If, and only if, we employ sustainable solutions and accelerate innovation that address current climate and ocean health challenges – accelerating the Blue Economy. Washington State is at the forefront of this growth.

What is the Blue Economy?

Growing at twice the rate of the global economy, the “blue economy” is a radical approach to rethinking the way we interact with our oceans. A pioneering approach to see the oceans as a resource that can generate wealth while simultaneously improving ecosystem health and supporting resilient communities.

Maritime Transportation & Logistics · Aquaculture & Seafood · Ocean Observation · Marine Renewable Energy · Shipbuilding · Tourism · Biotechnology · Natural Resource & Waste Management

Who are the Entrepreneurs of the Blue Economy?

These 11 startups were selected for the first cohort of the Maritime Blue Innovation Accelerator and received intensive programming over a 4-month period. Startups received access to Washington Maritime Blue industry and ocean leaders alongside WeWork Labs’ global network of mentors and advisors. This is a powerful opportunity for local companies to grow and secure funding in a sector where capital is often scarce.

Join our cohort as they showcase their extraordinary work and pitch their ideas to a curated audience of investors, mentors, corporate partners, and government officials.

These new ventures are passionate about finding innovative solutions to benefit the maritime and ocean economies, healthy marine and ocean ecosystems, and equitable & resilient communities:

Who Finances the Blue Economy?

From digital solutions to large infrastructure - innovation in the Blue Economy will need a diverse and varied financing approach; from public funding to equity stakes. We are seeing investments from Angel groups, Venture Capital, Impact and Corporate investors. There is a need and opportunity for philanthropy, debt financing, and coordination of public dollars to fill gaps and buy-down risk. The blue economy will need to blend financing options, build hybrid stacks of capital, and coordinate across public and private agencies. Come help us lead a global transformation!
