About the workshop
In recent years, Toronto Island Park has faced numerous pressures, including increased demand, aging infrastructure, and flooding. In response to these pressures — and to ensure this great park stays great for future generations — the City of Toronto is preparing a Toronto Island Park Master Plan. To do this, the City is collecting thoughts, ideas and feedback in a variety of ways to ensure your voices and ideas are reflected in the final Plan.
As part of the first phase of public engagement, called ‘Towards a Vision,’ the City’s Parks, Forestry, and Recreation team is hosting a Virtual Public Visioning Workshop to help us explore what the future of Toronto Island Park could look like.
What is the purpose of the workshop?
The Virtual Public Visioning Workshop will focus on co-developing the vision for the Master Plan, while seeking feedback on the proposed values and guiding principles.
The Workshop will include:
- Overview of the Toronto Island Park Master Plan
- Progress updates from: City’s Parks, Forestry, and Recreation team; DTAH (Landscape architect for the Toronto Island Park Master Plan)
- Q&A
- Breakout activities for participants to co-develop the vision with the project team and
- Plenary discussions for participants to share feedback on the proposed values and guiding principles.
Who should attend?
All Torontonians! Whether you have never been to the Island, or you visit the Toronto Island weekly, we want to capture your ideas and vision for the island. The workshop is open to:
- Toronto Island residents
- Toronto Island businesses
- Island and Waterfront Community associations and
- City-wide organizations interested in Toronto Island Park
- Interested community members

About the Toronto Islands Park Master Plan
The Toronto Islands Park Master Plan will be a dynamic, long-term planning document that outlines a vision, objectives, and actions to guide change and investment. Over the next year and a half, the City will work closely with Indigenous communities, island and waterfront communities and businesses, and all Island Park users across the city to develop a Master Plan that cements Toronto Island Park’s role as a cherished gathering place for many generations to come.
