About this Event
Greater New Orleans STEM Virtual Holiday Camps will offer students and teachers the opportunity to grow STEM skills, knowledge and become more aware of career opportunities in a variety of STEM fields including, but not limited to Robotics and Engineering. Participants can expect a fun and busy two days which offers a virtual “hands-on” STEM learning, team building and critical skills in reasoning and analytical thinking that will offer students important career skills. No prior experience is needed to participate, however, a computer device with a camera and internet access is needed.
This year's Virtual Holiday STEM Camp will each be a two day session.
Magnetism & Electromagnetism
- December 27-28 (10:00 am- Noon) Suggested Grades 3-7
- December 29-30 (10:00 am- Noon) Suggested Grades 3-7
- Explore and investigate the principles and properties of magnets and electromagnets. Learn how magnets are used to generate electricity. Build and test two electromagnets and discover what factors affect the strength of their electromagnetic fields. Plus, discover how magnets and electromagnets are used in real world!
Winter Wonderland
- December 29-30: (10:00am-Noon) Suggested Grades 2-5
- Make Winter Slime complete with snowflake confetti and scent-sational peppermint oil. Use marshmallows, pretzel sticks, and toothpicks to design and construct a Penguin Palace! Design an interactive holiday card using paper circuits. Plus, design and build a mini Snowball Launcher.
All materials needed for the hands-on activities and experiments will be provided in a materials kit in advance of your scheduled workshop.
