Event description
Come along with Tour Guide Agi Toth Babochay for a virtual exploration of some of the most delectable wines from across the globe.

About this Event

For a lot of us, the wine list can be just a little bit intimidating. What exactly is the difference between a cabernet and a pinot noir? Here is your chance to join a “happy-hour” atmosphere for an everything-you-always-wanted-to-know-but-were-too-afraid-to-ask about wine. Get some friends together and join our wine exposé and tasting seminar with expert Agi Toth Babochay. Complete with games and trivia, Agi will teach you what to look for when you’re tasting, how to describe the wine’s appearance, aromas, and flavors, and how to refine your own preferences.

You’ll also take a virtual tour of wine-producing regions across the globe as you taste a refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, a classic Chardonnay from Burgundy in France, a Pinot Noir from sunny California, and a spicy Cabernet from Chile. You’ll learn to impress your friends with your conversational knowledge of topics like the pros and cons of French oak as opposed to American oak, to cork or not to cork, the best food pairings with each wine, and how the shape of the glass makes all the difference.

So pour yourself a glass, whether it’s Cabernet or Rosé, and let this wonderfully “spirited” encounter guide you to a richer, more comfortable, and more delicious wine experience in the future. Cheers!

Please note:

  • You are welcome to use wine you have on hand in your home or, to enhance your tour, purchase one or more of the four wines Agi will be featuring during the presentation. Featured wines are generally $8-20 / bottle.
  • If the wine you want is unavailable, try ordering it online or ask for a wine with the same grape varietal and a similar style from another producer within the same region. Make sure to order early so you get them in time for the tasting!
  • See below for full names and images of the wine labels, along with suggested alternatives if the exact wines are not available. Having the labels handy can be helpful in getting the correct bottle. Labels can look very similar!
  1. 2018 Los Vascos, Baron Domaines de Rothschild, Colchagua, Chile - Any Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile will work here.
  2. 2019 Decoy Pinot Noir, Duckhorn, California, USA - Consider a Pinot Noir from a Northern California region including Sonoma, Mendocino, or Napa. Also, look for “California” on front or back label; these are price-friendly Pinots.
  3. 2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Whitehaven, Marlborough, New Zealand - If Whitehaven isn’t available, look for any vintage of unoaked Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region first, then anywhere in New Zealand.
  4. 2019 Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay, Drouhin, Burgundy, France - Alternatives for this wine include another Chardonnay from Drouhin winery, a prolific producer, or stick to the region of Macon, where the Chardonnays are very price friendly.
