About this Event

We're taking one of our most popular events online again after great feedback on our first virtual edition in January!

Join us for another enjoyable evening of artisan cheese from Ann Arbor-based Zingerman's Creamery alongside paired wines from MBTB on Zoom. Guests can pre-order a $105-$115 package for pickup that includes three Zingerman's cheeses — Burrata, Manchester and Liptauer— and three (750 mL) bottles of pre-selected wines. (Sorry, no substitutions for this package.) Zingerman's cheesemaker Sam Smith will be discussing the featured cheeses and how they're made, while Shannon, Cort and Pete will moderate the discussion and discuss the featured wines/pairings.

Two wine packages available per location:

  • AUBURN SWEET ($105): Resort Pike East Park Blanc; Chateau Chantal Select Harvest Gewurztraminer; Marland Late Harvest Riesling
  • AUBURN DRY ($115): Laurentide Winery Pinot Gris; Cody Kresta Tradition; Brys Estate Dry Riesling
  • ROYAL OAK SWEET ($105): Sandhill Crane Vineyards Serenade, Verterra Winery Chaos White, Bel Lago Select Harvest Riesling
  • ROYAL OAK DRY ($115): Verterra Winery Pinot Grigio, Bel Lago Solia, 45 North Dry Riesling
  • SHELBY SWEET ($105): Sandhill Crane Vineyards Serenade, Rove Estate Select Harvest Riesling, Peninsula Cellars Old School White
  • SHELBY DRY ($115): Verterra Winery Pinot Grigio, Sandhill Crane Vineyards Fields of Rose, Verterra Winery Chaos Red

All packages include complete tubs/wedges of:

  • BURRATA: Made in the style of Italy’s Lazio region; a mozzarella balloon filled with heavy whipping cream and chunks of mozzarella curd for an absolutely decadent cheese.
  • MANCHESTER: Gentle pasteurization and a slow-culturing process allow the sumptuous flavors of the Manchester to shine. Featuring a luscious cream line just beneath a thin, wrinkly geotrichum candidum rind, the dense and slightly earthy paste begins with a fudge-like texture that evolves into an ooey gooey, decadent treat once aged beyond two months.
  • LIPTAUER: Made in the style of traditional spreadable cheese found in taverns throughout Hungary. Its umami-packed favor comes from blending Zingerman's fresh cream cheese with truly exceptional sweet and hot heirloom paprika from the Hodi family in Hungary. They then hand blend in garlic, sea salt, capers, toasted caraway, and a touch of anchovy paste. The result is a beautiful melding of flavors with a kick of hot paprika spice. Fantastic with a slice of rye or pumpernickel and a robust ale.

Ordering deadline is 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, or when event capacity is met, whichever comes first. Cheese/wine package pickup is Friday, March 5-Sunday, March 7 at MBTB Royal Oak, MBTB Shelby Township or MBTB Auburn Hills. Location will be selected upon registration.

Wine + cheese must be purchased to participate in the Zoom event (but only one package is required per household, not per person). Zoom link will be sent out to registered participants the day of the event.

What is the refund policy? All sales are final for all events requiring pre-payment. If you find you cannot attend, you are welcome to send someone else in your place. We appreciate your understanding.
