About this event
Beginning May 1, 2023 the Black Empowerment Works program will be accepting grant and community reviewer applications. Attend an information session to learn more about the opportunity.
United Way of Greater Cincinnati's Black Empowerment Works program promotes Black self-determination, social mobility and economic prosperity by providing resources and funding to grassroots/community-based, Black-led work. Since its inception in 2020, the program has invested over $3 million in 100 ideas and their leaders in partnership with P&G Always brand and bi3.
More than just a grant fund, Black Empowerment Works seeks to contribute to the ecosystem of support for Black changemakers by providing access to capacity-building resources, opportunities for partnership and more.
There are two opportunities to engage in the process:
- Apply for a Grant: Eligible organizations/work can request up to $40,000.
- Serve as a Community Reviewers: Decide what gets funded this cycle.
During the information session, we will provide:
- An overview of the Black Empowerment Works program.
- Details about the grant opportunity, including eligibility, funding available, the application process and how decisions will be made.
- Details about the Community Reviewer experience, including qualities of a strong reviewer and and overview of the process.
- An opportunity to hear from people who have participated in the process.
- Time for questions and answers.
