Practicing Medicine in 21st Century America:
Violence Overseas and on the Home Front
14 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits
Society has changed, and the practice of medicine must evolve with it. Some new challenges include terrorist attacks and domestic violence as well as the physical and psychological aftermath. There is a need for practitioners in all therapeutic areas to be aware of how to handle all types of violence. These emerging issues require strategies to improve not only patient outcomes and safety, but to improve safety for healthcare workers. At the conclusion of all of the presentations, participants should have a good understanding of appearance, causes, diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of the selected mental and physical disorders as well as action plans for implementing safety plans to prevent such disorders.
