Event description

Description

ImprovBoston is thrilled to announce The Vintage Improv Festival, the world’s first festival of improvisation dedicated to celebrating the talents of comedic performers over the age of 50. The Vintage Improv Festival takes the stage all day, Sunday, September 9 in Central Square, Cambridge as part of the well established Boston Improv Fest. Shining a spotlight on improvisers who have both life and stage experience, VIF provides access to inclusive artist mixers, workshops led by Boston’s best improv instructors, and of course performance opportunities at ImprovBoston, New England’s biggest and oldest comedy theater. The one-day festival features existing teams from around the country as well as improvisers flying solo (VIF will create dynamic Vintage teams for all our soloists). Whether you are the Silent Generation doing the Twist, Baby Boomers rocking on or Xer’s getting physical, come be part of making improv history!

Submissions for existing teams and solo improvisers open June 10 and close June 20. Stay tuned for more information. Vintage Improv Fest is produced by ImprovBoston with inspiration and support from Elderberry Jam. After reviewing submissions, we will invite accepted solo improvisors and existing teams to register for the festival.

For over 35 years, ImprovBoston has been New England's leading theater and school dedicated to the art of comedy in all its forms. Voted "Best of Boston" by The Phoenix, The Improper Bostonian, and The Weekly Dig, ImprovBoston performers, teachers and students have included film stars, Emmy Award-winning comedians, and acclaimed producers, directors, musicians and writers featured on The Daily Show, America's Got Talent, Funniest Wins, Real Time with Bill Maher, Last Comic Standing and John Oliver's Last Week Tonight, to name a few. Improv Boston is a non-profit organization.
