For the first time ever Slow Food Editore, the publisher of the Slow Wine Guide, an English guide to Italian wines, will collaborate with Vinitaly International. This joint showcase will aim to offer American wine trade 2013’s most comprehensive two days of Italian wine tasting and education in the US. The first collaborative event will be held at New York City’s Three-Sixty° on Tuesday, January 28th followed by a second event at Miami Beach Resort in Miami on Wednesday, January 30th. In New York, the walk around tastings will feature over 75 selected producers with 15 Italian regions represented.
“Vinitaly is an iconic name in the world of Italian wine, a truly global ambassador for the Italian wine scene,” said Marco Bolasco, CEO of Slow Food Editore. “We feel that by joining efforts Vinitaly and Slow Wine will be able to offer the US wine trade the most diverse Italian wine experience: from lesser-known and sustainability oriented artisanal winemakers to Italian wine icons.”

When: January 28th, 2013, 12:00PM – 5:00PM (Grand Tasting Begins At 1:00PM)
- Events will begin at 11 am with a presentation by John Gillespie, President of the Wine Market Council, that will focus on attitudes, purchase preferences, demographics, usage, and market positioning of Italian wines in the United States. Limited seating.
- At 12 pm, selected importers will be invited to a private hour of tasting, during which they can focus on tasting unrepresented wines.
- At 12 pm there will be a press conference held jointly by Vinitaly International and Slow Food Editore, discussing the two organizations' decision to collaborate on the 2013 US tour, explaining the innovations of the Slow Wine guide and Vinitaly International and announcing the winner of the David Taub Award.
- The walk-around tasting for trade and press will begin at 1:00 pm.
- A tasting master class, “Vertical Tasting of Nino Negri’s ‘5 stelle’ Sfursat di Valtellina DOCG”, will be offered at 1:30 pm and hosted by Casimiro Maule, Nino Negri’s Technical Director and Gambero Rosso’s 2007 Winemaker of the Year. Limited seating.
- A tasting master class, "Vertical Tasting of 6 Vintages of Vistorta Merlot from Friuli", will be offered at 3:15 pm and hosted by Conte Brandino Brandolini. Limited seating.
- A tasting master class, “Italy’s Volcanic Wines", will be hosted by Giovanni Ponchia, Oenologist for Consorzio Tutela Vini Soave, at 5:00 pm. Limited seating.
