Event description

Description

The Kennedys are an American folk-rock band, consisting of husband and wife Pete and Maura Kennedy. They are recognized for their harmonies and instrumental prowess, blending elements of country music, bluegrass, Western swing and janglepop.

About The Host

Richard Barone is an American rock musician who first gained attention as frontman for The Bongos. He works as a songwriter, arranger, author, director, and record producer, releases albums as a solo artist, tours, and has created major concert events at Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, and New York's Central Park. He serves on the Board of Governors for The Recording Academy (Grammys), the Board of Advisors for Anthology Film Archives, and is affiliated with the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University. His current album Sorrows & Promises: Greenwich Village in the 1960s celebrates the origins of the singer/songwriter movement in that pivotal decade.

About The Series

Since 1902, the Washington Square Hotel (formerly “The Earle”) has been a haven for writers, artists, and musicians. Take a minute and let these names sink in: Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Bo Diddley, Maynard Ferguson, Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, Ernest Hemingway and Dylan Thomas. Yes, all of these greats—and more—have been guests at this iconic Greenwich Village landmark.

Washington Square Hotel hopes to build upon its rich history by launching a monthly salon series. 'Village Nights' will be curated and hosted by Greenwich Village musician, producer, author, legendary frontman for The Bongos, and longtime Villager, Richard Barone.

“Greenwich Village’s longstanding legacy as a center of cultural revolution and a haven for self-expression has always been best expressed through its nightlife. This freewheeling musical salon series celebrates the Village’s folk, jazz, and spoken-word heritage in a uniquely historic setting and offers a great night out!” says Barone.

  • Show times are at 6:30 p.m. in the hotel’s North Square Lounge. Doors open at 6pm.
