Dave Erdman, CEO & president, PacRim Marketing Group
Dave has 30-plus years of cross-cultural communications and business experience helping clients increase share and spend of the Asian International Traveler (AIT) market. In his consulting role at PacRim and PRTech, he helps companies throughout Hawaii and the Continental U.S. increase AIT market share. Most of his clients are in the hotel, travel, retail and financial industries. In 1999, Dave was awarded The Governor's Retail Merchant Award for assisting the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau with integrating retail and tourism marketing.
Dave's past and present professional affiliations include PRSA (Public Relations Society of America), Hawaii Chapter; PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association), Hawaii Chapter, where he served as chairman; the HVCB’s marketing and research committees; chair of the Retail Tourism Task Force Committee; and the Retail Merchants of Hawaii, where he continues to serve on the board of directors and on the executive committee. Dave is also a trustee of Mid-Pacific Institute.
Kitty Lagareta, CEO, Communications Pacific
Kitty Lagareta joined Communications Pacific as an account executive in 1986 and bought the company in 1995. A well-known Hawaii communicator and entrepreneur, Kitty was selected as the first “Businesswoman of the Year” by Pacific Business News. She has received numerous awards for her work from the Hawaii chapters of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). She received the Gregg W. Perry Public Relations Professional of the Year in 2003 and served on IPREX’s executive committee. IPREX is a global partnership of independent communications firms of which CommPac is the Hawaii affiliate.
Kitty’s record of community work is lengthy and includes serving on the University of Hawaii Board of Regents. She was a founding board member and the first executive director of Hawaii’s Ronald McDonald House and vice president of the Kapiolani Health Foundation; and is a board member of Enterprise Honolulu, American Red Cross – Hawaii State Chapter and Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Barbra Pleadwell, partner, Hastings & Pleadwell
Barbra Pleadwell is a partner with Hastings & Pleadwell: A Communication Company, one of the top 10 Honolulu PR companies, according to Pacific Business News. Hawaii Business featured Pleadwell in its 2007 cover story, “25 People who will shape the next 25 years.” She was honored by Pacific Business News in its “Forty Under 40” awards in 2000 and named Small Business Hawaii’s “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2001.
Among her extensive community contributions, Barbra is a longtime member of the Junior League of Honolulu (JLH) and received the JLH’s Active Award in 2001 and the Community Service Award in 2004. She is board chair for YWCA of O‘ahu, and past president for the Organization of Women Leaders (OWL). She serves on the board of directors for Montessori Community School and Hawaii Women's Foundation.
