Video marketing doesn’t have to break the bank. You can use a smartphone or a tablet to create great video content for your small business, personal portfolio, YouTube channel or website. Learn the hows, wheres and whys of online content creation, from the most basic and essential tools for shooting video to the most essential creative apps and the best social media channels. We will not only cover how to produce great content with simple smartphone tools, but we'll also discuss what makes a powerful composition, how brand identity works, hashtags, the language of each social media platform and how to design your online presence to best suit your needs. Learn to reach the thousands of online users!
This class certifies you as an Activist Filmmaker, which means you can check out Open Signal’s Activist Filmmaking kits for free (which include an iPad, tripod, two lenses, a light and two mics). It also certifies you to submit videos to our cable channels.
Open Signal is located off the #6 bus line. If you are driving to Open Signal we have a parking lot located on NE Graham. Our main entrance is located on the corner of NE Graham and NE MLK. For directions please call our main line at (503) 288-1515.
Open Signal workshops typically grant certification on the equipment and software taught in the course unless otherwise noted. Workshops participants must attend ALL workshop sessions in order to receive certification. No make-up sessions will be allowed except in cases of emergency. Participants must contact email@example.com to be considered for make-up sessions.
Arriving Late or Missing a Workshop
If you miss the first day or are more than 30 minutes late, you will lose your place in the workshop.
Cancellation Policies for Workshops
- Workshops must meet the minimum enrollment requirement for the workshop to take place. If a workshop is cancelled due to lack of enrollment, students will be notified 24 hours in advance. Participants may apply their class credit to take another Open Signal workshop or can receive a full refund.
- You may cancel up to 3 days in advance to receive a full refund. There will be no refunds or transfers if you cancel with less than three days notice or fail to show up.
- Please allow 2-3 business days for all refunds to be processed.
In the event of an emergency, exchanges for class credit may be offered at the discretion of Open Signal Management. For questions or concerns about your registration, please contact the Media Education department at (503) 673- 8649 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Inclement Weather Policy
Open Signal follows the Portland Public Schools weather closure policy. If a workshop is closed to inclement weather, we will attempt to reschedule the workshop within the term. Full refunds or class exchanges will be offered if students cannot make the rescheduled date.
