About this event

SUSTAINABLE WINE TASTING: ERIC RYDIN

If you choose to participate in the wine-tasting, certified sommelier Eric Rydin is leading us through an unforgettable experience for the senses with a tasting focused on the Ins and Outs of Sustainable Winemaking. We will explore the differences between the terms "organic," "biodynamic," "sustainable," and "natural" winemaking, as well as the effects those have on agriculture.

Eric is the founder of Le Grand Triage: Wine & Whiskey in New York City specializing in organic, biodynamic, and sustainable wines. Eric teaches award-winning wine and spirits classes, whose previous clients include Gregg Popovich, Deron Williams, Michael Davies, and Nate Berkus.

One of your two tasting wines will be a sparkling rosé from the Lingot-Martin house located in the Cerdonnais wine region of France. The wine is a Domaine Lingot Martin Bugey Cerdon Rose Methode Ancestrale NV. This off-dry, certified "high environmental value" sparkling rosé remains fresh in the glass with notes of strawberry, rhubarb, and raspberry.

The other wine you'll receive as part of the tasting is a Petit Peyfaures Bordeaux Supérieur (2016). This wine is an organic and natural merlot-based Bordeaux, fermented with native yeast and aged in stainless steel, with one third of the wine aged in matured french oak for 12 months. The result is a fresh and juicy, fruit-focused wine, with notes of redcurrant, raspberry, and soft juicy tannins.

------

For those who buy the 4- bottle package, you will receive two additional unique bottles from France that will not be tasted live during the event — instead to be enjoyed at your leisure.

Vignerons des Grandes Vignes Saint-Veran Les Pierres Grises (2018)

This white is 100% unoaked sustainable chardonnay from Maconnais (located in the south of the Burgundy region) - need we say more? A pristine wine with exceptional minerality and citrus notes.

Mas Theo P'tit Gaby (2019)

This biodynamic and organic chillable red blend from the Southern Rhone valley, is aged in stainless steel for 9 months in an old quarry cave where the constant cool temperature provides the perfect environment for this smooth, earthy, balanced wine to mature before bottling.

HOST: DOMINIC CARTER

We are happy to welcome back as Gala host, journalist, WABC radio talk show host, political reporter and author, Dominic Carter.

Organizer The Face-to-Face Project

Organizer of Victory Gardens Virtual Benefit

The Face-to-Face Project believes the best way to break the cycle of poverty is to nurture self-reliance, and the first step toward self-reliance is to make food security accessible to everyone.

Our Victory Garden Campaign aims to mobilize rural grassroots communities in Malawi and Cambodia to achieve sustainable solutions in the fight against hunger and poverty. Through the creation of high-yield, low cost victory gardens, villagers learn how to grow enough food to eat, earn income, improve nutrition, and lead healthy lives building a sense that change comes from within.
