Event description

Description

The Victorian Literary Parlour explores brilliant but unjustly neglected authors and stories from this most prolific period of English literature. Our guide is Mr. Walter Nelson, authority on the period and sharp dresser.

Elizabeth Gaskell's Mary Barton is our July selection. It exemplifies the Victorian penchant for sharp socio-political commentary through romance and domesticity. Mary is torn between two men of different classes, by tragedy and the need to survive; as always, the poor have few choices.

HOW IT WORKS:

All book clubs require a ticket, and include the book, snacks/bevs, and a dedicated moderator - to keep the discussion on track! All clubs meet at The Last Bookstore.

You can get your ticket (we'll ship the book to you!) at the link on this page - OR just come in to the store and look for our book club display (near the book tunnel).

If you choose the on-line option (the one with shipping), please send a mailing addy to larkin.lastbookstore@gmail.com
