Victoria Crosby

British born Victoria Crosby has been interested in history and art since childhood and has always had a strong social conscience.

Her involvement in the preservation of Long Island history and culture is extensive.  Victoria is the Vice President of Administration for the North Shore Historical Museum.  As Chairman of Fundraising Events, Victoria’s committee’s efforts over fifteen years helped to match state grants and to restore the 1909 Courthouse on Glen Street in Glen Cove, which was originally the Oyster Bay City Hall.  Fundraising events included antiques appraisals and exhibits held at Winfield and Welwyn Mansions.

Victoria has also chaired fundraising events in other Glen Cove mansions including three at Killenworth.

Victoria was elected in 2012 to the board of trustees of the Historic Royal Palaces in London. The palaces include The Tower of London, Kensington Palace, WhitehallPalace, Hampton Court Palace and Kew Palace.

In addition to being Glen Cove Poet Laureate since 1994,Victoria is the founder and President of the Glen Cove Arts Council, (“GCAC”) a 501c3 charity that exposes low income youth to the arts by visits to museums, theater, ballet  and opera and also offers scholarships to talented youth who don’t have the family financial resources to study the arts.

Victoria is President of the Daughters of the British Empire “DBE”) in New York State, a national organization of women of British birth and heritage, and Regent of the Long Island chapter. She has been the DBE poet laureate since 2009.

Sales of Victoria’s British, inspirational and humorous poetry books benefit the DBE and GCAC.

Victoria has a master degree in education and has over the years, in between raising four sons, taught nursery school, given private piano and violin lessons, been director of a summer day camp and a mentoring program,  and was managing and artistic director for many years of a summer music festival. She has been host and producer of several radio programs including Oasis on WHPC 90.3 fm for more than fifteen years.  Oasis is a program for relaxation and inspiration which features soothing music and Victoria’s inspirational poetry.

Victoria also hosts and produces a bi-annual Elvis tribute show which airs on the anniversary of his birth and death and tells his life story in rhyme with Elvis music from 1950’s to 1970’s.
