Description

Victor Ekpuk in Conversation with Nnedi Okorafor

Join us for a special conversation between artist Victor Ekpuk and writer Nnedi Okorafor on the occasion of Ekpuk’s new installation at The Africa Center, “Harlem Sunrise.” Ekpuk is a Nigerian-American artist based in Washington, D.C., best known for his ephemeral large-scale works drawn directly onto the gallery wall. In “Harlem Sunrise,” Ekpuk weaves symbols and fleeting impressions of New York City into a large-scale wall drawing that connects the Center with its surrounding neighborhood.

Ekpuk will be joined in conversation by Nigerian-American science fiction and fantasy writer Nnedi Okorafor.

Following the discussion, Ekpuk will sign copies of his recent book, “Victor Ekpuk: Connecting Lines Across Space and Time" (Pan-African University Press, 2018).

This event is free and open to the public on a first come, first served basis.

Doors open at 7pm

Event starts at 7:30pm

Please enter through the Center's main doors at 1280 Fifth Avenue.
