Description

This workshop will provide a framework for practitioners to examine how trauma is introduced, and how to address the vicarious trauma in work settings or in the community. Attendees will learn how and when to exercise protective measures to ensure self-care as they take on the challenges associated with working with clients and trauma experiences that are inherently interwoven into the work of Social Workers.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will learn how to develop their own self-care tool kit and better address areas of trauma and instability for themselves and recognize the signs in other workers and among clients.

1. Understand how and when trauma begins to create and manifest emotional and psychological deficits.

2. Identify models of self-care.

3. Learn how to use evidence based practice interventions to address trauma.
