Veteran Response Teams are programs in which police officers who are Veterans receive specific trainings on mental health and Veteran health in order to collaborate with Veterans in crisis in a peer support model.

Research on VRT programs show that Veterans who receive VRT response have a higher rate of following through with inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance use treatment, utilize homeless services, and have decreased use of emergency services in the 6 months following their initial run.
