Event description

Description

Did you know that vermicompost is considered one of the best fertilizers? It's packed with nutrients, healthy growth hormones, and healthy bacteria.

Come to our Vermicompost class to find out: why vermicompost is so beneficial; how to vermicompost; how to brew vermicompost tea; and how to make a worm bin that you can use right in your own home. **Proper vermicompost does not smell or harbor naughty insects.

Participants will have the chance to make your own bin to take home! The bin will be a modified three-gallon food-grade rubber rub. (Purchase $10 onsite with cash or paypal) We will even stock it with worms and a healthy bedding to get you started!

Class is taught by Brian Filipowich, Director of Anacostia Aquaponics and Chair of the national Aquaponics Association. Brian also proudly holds a Master Urban Composter Certificate from DC Department of Parks n' Rec. Class takes place on Cultivate the City's rooftop farm, above Jenks Hardware Store.

Hope to see you there!
