Description

Pierrot Lunaire is a melodrama composed by 20th century composer Arnold Schoenberg. It is a setting of Belgian poet Albert Giraud's 21 poems entitled Pierrot Lunaire. Pierrot is one of Schoenberg's most celebrated and frequently performed works. The cycle has three parts, each with seven poems. The first Pierrot sings of love, religion, and sex. In the second he sings of blasphemy and the third of his return home, haunted by his past.
