It’s more than advice over a cup of coffee.
The Venture Center's Mentor Training Program guides participants through an introduction to the unique Venture Center methodology and mission. In addition, prospective mentors walk through the steps in mentoring a startup founder taking a business from idea stage to a scalable, investable venture.
The Venture Center Mentor Network is comprised of business executives and professionals with specific domain expertise. Venture Center mentors have a heart for leadership and are focused on expanding economic development in Little Rock and all of Central Arkansas through the establishment of a strong startup community.
Lou McAlister, serial entrepreneur and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Venture Center, leads participants through half-day course which highlights key components such as what the Venture Center does (and why), the qualities of a successful mentor, and how to conduct an efficient, impactful mentor session.
Cost of the Mentor Training course is $300 (which includes one year membership dues to the Venture Center; current members pay $150 tuition fee)
New Venture Center Mentors shadow a Master Mentor for 8 sessions. Following this process, the master mentor assesses where the new mentor best fits the Venture Center Mentor Network and the new mentor begins conducting solo mentorship sessions.
All mentors are asked to provide availability for a minimum of 4 hours of mentorship per month.
NOTE: For morning training, breakfast will be provided. For afternoon training, lunch will be provided.
