Veneto Wine Chat
Event Information
About this Event
This time around we are going to take a look at the wines of Veneto, one of Italy’s most productive regions. Prosecco is the region’s most widely known wine, but long before Prosecco, Veneto was making remarkable red wines from their trio: Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes.
We will be covering:
- An overall look at Veneto’s History (as a whole region, rather than a hard look at Venice)
- The primary grapes of the region: Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara (Plus Glera!)
- Some of the most famous appellations of the area
A reminder, this won't be a proper tasting, but rather a dive into the history and theory of the winemaking in Veneto and the unique wines coming from the regions.
You are welcome to grab a glass and sip along the talk. I recommend a break away from the usual prosecco and opt for a red, Amarone is the best, but also a great Valpolicella. I will be sipping a Valpolicella Ripasso from Sfoja (if you are located in Italy you can find it at Signorvino!)
Some great snacks to accompany: Aged cheeses, anything with some smoky or bold flavors. Mushrooms & earthy vegetables, roast meats.
