Description

VENDOR OLYMPICS!

Don't worry...we won't have any synchronized swimming. But we WILL have lots of funny faces and laughter. And hopefully some great matching team outfits also!

Our annual Vendor Olympics Appreciation Event & Post-Party is a way for us to show some appreciation to our fellow wedding pros with a little fun during the slightly-slower summer season. We'll have fun competitions, awards, and a post-party. It'll also give fellow pros a chance to kick-back, have a laugh and enjoy some good company.

Here's the Details:

  • Teams will be comprised of 4 (minimum) to 8 (maximum) people. Each team member must compete in at least 1 event. 16 teams will be our maximum.

  • We will have "Qualifying Rounds" from 3-6pm where teams will take part in the events listed below. Teams will earn points based on their finish, which will determine seeding for the finals.

  • Top 8 teams will advance to a single-elimination finals from 6-7:30, competing in events below.

  • Awards and Post-Party will happen 7:30-9pm! We'll have awards for our Top 3 finishers, as well as the Top 3 best-dressed teams!

  • Cost for the event is $0 thanks to our event sponsors who help us absorb some of the costs! However, we'd respectfully ask each team to choose the $200 donation registration and all proceeds (after Eventbrite fees), will go toward our Event Charity: Cystic Fibrosis, Charlotte chapter! We'd encourage everyone to find a company to sponsor your team to cover the $200 donation. The donation is not required, though. We'd just love to be able to help raise money to fight Cystic Fibrosis.

THE EVENTS!!!

  • Top 4 finishers in each event will earn points (10, 7, 4, 1) toward advancing to the finals.

QUALIFYING ROUND EVENTS:

  • DIZZY BAT DESIGN - Relay event with 3 team members. Spin around the dizzy bat 8 times, then race to gather flowers to a table, return and tag in a teammate, who will spin the dizzy bat, then race to put the flowers in a vase with water.

  • SURVIVING A BAD DJ - In an "Escape Room" style competition, 4 team members will be locked inside a room and must problem solve some riddles to escape. More difficult than the riddles though...will be that bad DJ music will be playing inside the room the entire time...and it will get worse as time goes on. You thought hearing group dance songs every weekend was bad...

  • BUSTLE & HUSTLE - Relay event with 4 team members. Two team members will race in a "3-legged-race" to a changing area where one person must change into a bridal gown. The two will race back 3-legged fashion again, then tag 2 more team members who will also race to a changing area, change into a suit, then race back to finish.

  • TOSS ONE DOWN - Since sometimes the cake-cutting and bouquet toss can happen back-to-back, we decided to put them together in an event. In a timed competition, 1 person from your team will eat 2 cupcakes, then toss a bouquet into a target to finish.

FINAL ROUND EVENTS:

  • CORN HOLE (QUARTER-FINALS) - You know the game! Teams of 2 competing against each other. We'll use ACA rules. 27-foot distance between boards and "cancellation" scoring, meaning only 1 team earns points after a player from each team has pitched bags. Example: 1 team member (A) throws for 3 points and the opposing team member (B) for 2 points, Team member A earned 1 point for their team. First team to 21 wins. Bags on board are worth 1 point and bags in the hole, 3 points. More details given day of!

  • BEIRUT (SEMI-FINALS) - Otherwise known as "Beer Pong." However, we won't play with beer and no drinking will be mandatory. We'll put water in the cups and the winner will be determined by eliminates the other by first by tossing ping-pong balls into the cups. 2 person teams, with players shooting. If both make, they will be allowed a single rollback to shoot again 1 time each before alternating to the other team. Beginning with 10 cups, re-racking will be allowed at the throwing team's discretion, at 6 cups, 4, 3, 2, 1. We will also switch out to 2 new players once the throwing team reaches 5 remaining cups. If a ball is spinning on the cup, the opposing team is allowed to blow it out, but no hands allowed. Bouncing or throwing the balls will be allowed as shot techniques. No swatting away balls will be allowed. Upon one team making a shot in the final cup, the opposing team will be allowed to send the game into a 3-cup overtime, provided they make all shots. Of the two losing teams, the one scoring the most points will be awarded third place. Additional rules will be covered day of!

  • GIANT JENGA (FINALS) - Teams will compete in a single game of Giant Jenga to be declared the winner. Rules covered that day!
