About this event
The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be improving the trail south of Bridge 31. We'll be removing vegetation growing into the trail.
Volunteers may perform some of the following work:
- Using pruners and loppers to cut vegetation
- Using hand saws to cut branches
- Hauling away vegetation and fallen tree branches
- Picking up trash
What to Bring:
- Water
- Gloves (We'll have some to borrow)
- Pruners or loppers (We'll have some to borrow)
- Long sleeves and long pants (to prevent poison ivy)
Where to Meet:
The work area is on the Mount Vernon Trail on the long wooden bridge south of the Theodore Roosevelt Island Parking lot. See the picture below for walking directions from the TR Island Parking Lot. Look for the purple Friends of Mount Vernon Trail sign.

- We follow current CDC guidance
- Work will be performed outside with room to socially distance
