Event description

Description

RECOVERY is the most complex, long-lasting aspect of the emergency management cycle. It affects the most people and is all too often an afterthought when planning for disasters. The basic definition of recovery is the process of returning a community to “normal.” But what is normal-- and more importantly, how do you get there?

In addition, recovery is one of the least planned for aspects of disaster in healthcare.

Please join the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the Near Southwest Preparedness Alliance to learn about the long term recovery process as it relates to the healthcare infrastructure in Southwest Virginia. We will discuss local, state, and federal disaster declaration processes, public assistance eligibility, as well as recovery assistance for non-federal disasters and other key topics relating recovering the healthcare sector following a major disaster.

To facilitate valuable networking opportunities between local and state emergency managers and healthcare emergency mangers and leadership we will be providing lunch on site.

Registration/check-in will begin at 8:30 am, with the Workshop starting promptly at 9:00 am.

We look forward to seeing each of you there!
