Description

Vashti, Esther, and #MeToo: A Conversation with Dr. Keren McGinity

Monday, March 25 from 7:00-9:00 PM

Dr. Keren McGinity

Honored as one of Forward’s 50 most influential American Jews for 2018, Dr. Keren McGinity has been recognized for detailing the harassment she personally suffered in the Jewish institutional world and for issuing a broader call for a Jewish response to the #MeToo movement. McGinity is the inaugural director of the Interfaith Families Jewish Engagement Program at Hebrew College and an honorary research associate at Brandeis University. She earned her PhD from Brown University where she was a visiting assistant professor of history. She also serves on the Sexual Misconduct Task Force of the Association for Jewish Studies and the Academic Advisory Council of the Jewish Women’s Archive. McGinity is the author of two pioneering books which have changed the narrative about Jewish continuity: “Marrying Out: Jewish Men, Intermarriage, and Fatherhood” and “Still Jewish: A History of Women & Intermarriage in America.”

“…until we, as a community, craft a meaningful response to the #MeToo moment, we are all guilty of endangering our daughters’ future.” (Dan Friedman, Forward)
