San Francisco Swing-Punk Rockers Van Goat (formerly Bear Lincoln) take PianoFight's Cabaret Stage by storm 4 Thursdays in March with a 9 Band Residency with Benefits. With proceeds heading towards community-oriented non-profits with bases in the Bay Area, and up-and-coming local music that promises to get you moving, these shows provide an opportunity to dance your ass off for a good cause. Festivities kick off on March 9 with the trashy, funky boot-stomping music of The Damn Fanatics & Alvie & the Breakfast Pigs joining Van Goat in a benefit concert for imentor.org.
Van Goat takes the tradition of fun, fast, eclectic surf rock started by bands such as Agent Orange, The Pixies, and The Minutemen, mixed with their own brand of swing punk reminiscent of The Squirrel Nut Zippers. Fast, crass, and extremely catchy, Van Goat’s music is defined by constant hooks and changes.
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower first-generation students from low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. Full calendar listings below.
Van Goat’s Residency with Benefits will take place in the PianoFight bar on Thursday evenings March 9-30. Tickets are available via $10-20 suggested donation, with portions of the proceeds going towards a different non-profit for each show. Tickets can be reserved at www.pianofight.com
