Event description

Description

Come along to a marine planning morning and participate in a workshop that will challenge you in the exciting, hands-on, marine spatial planning game. The whole event will take an innovative approach by having live visual minutes; a process of capturing comments in a large, evolving graphic representation of the day, done by a professional team of artists.

The events are part of the Orkney Marine Environment Project, which aims to determine the baseline state of the ecological, economic and social aspects of Orkney’s marine waters out to twelve nautical miles. The project is the first stage in regional marine planning for Orkney; further developments on this should be announced soon.

Starting with a talk about the project, participants will then get the opportunity to help determine key issues to be addressed in topic sheets, play the interactive marine game and, for fun, get a certificate marine planning.

The first workshop will be held in the St. Magnus Hall, Broad Street, Kirkwall on the 18th September; the second in Stromness Library, Victoria Street, Stromness on the 19th September. Both events will run from 10.00 am – 2.00 pm. Pleasee see link for Stromness event: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/valuing-our-seas-free-workshop-tickets-69175165783

Attendance is free but must be booked in advance as places are limited. Coffee and lunch will be provided.
