December 1, 2017 8:00 pm New City Brewery, Easthampton, MA

This is the culminating event of the 2017 season for The Valley Music Showcase, which is a fun bi-monthly live performance event produced by Mark Sherry and held at New City Brewery in Easthampton, MA. It’s literally a mini-music festival in one evening. The Showcase is a juried competition designed to show off the best exciting new talent in the Pioneer Valley/Springfield/Hartford (“Learning Corridor”) area. Every other month 6 bands and/or solo or duos drawn from all musical genres grace the stage. Prizes include several hundred dollars of gift certificates to local area sponsoring businesses as well as cash prizes. Judges include local area celebrities (elected officials, DJs, well known musicians, and other local figures).

On December 1, the “Super Playoff” Finals featuring all the winners of the 2017 season will be held to determine the Grand Prize Winner. The Grand Prize winner will earn 20 hrs of free professional studio time at Northfire Recording Studios in Amherst, MA, get to record a music video at GCTV in Greenfield, and walk away with hundreds of $$ in prizes.

Afterlife Garage is a band from central, MA blending together blues driven rock, garage rock and psychedelic music. Joe Hastain- Guitar/Vocals, Anthony Serino– Keyboards/Vocals, Adam Erickson– Bass, Tom Krasner- Drums. Influenced by bands such as The White Stripes, Tame Impala, Pink Floyd, Pond, and Deep Purple; their music includes elements from each genre to create original Rock n Roll.

Shokazoba began in 2005 in Northampton, MA as a 17 piece Fela Kuti tribute project. They now produce original work, aiming to inspire positive social change by creating conscious, funky, danceable music with progressive, topical lyrics. Shokazoba performs high energy music designed to move your feet, enervate your mind, & stimulate your soul. Shokazoba earned the Valley Advocate's award for "Best World Music" in 2007, 2010, 2011, & 2012, their "Best Funk" award in 2008, & were nominated for best live act of 2016 by the New England Music Awards.

Their funky jams and thoughtful lyrics keep the vibe electric and the crowd dancing.
