Valley Fever Walk 2018
Event Information
Description
The Valley Fever WALK provides awareness and education about Coccidioidomycosis (also known as "Cocci" or Valley Fever). There will be information stations to visit while enjoying the early morning with refreshments, games and entertainment at Pioneer Village in Bakersfield. Physicians will be there to answer questions.
Walking is not required to participate! Many people enjoy walking the loop around the area of Pioneer Village where our event is held, but you can choose to sit under the trees and just enjoy the morning.
If you are a survivor, make sure you get in the picture! Meet at the gazebo/bandstand at 7:45. If you have ever had Valley Fever, or if you have it now, your participation is very important to all of us. Please come to support one another, and to help the world understand about Valley Fever.
This is a family friendly event! Enjoy activities for all ages among the historic buildings of Pioneer Village.
This is the 7th annual Valley Fever WALK and we will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Hans Einstein! Dr. Einstein devoted his life to fighting Valley Fever as a physician and as a scientist, and he became the world-recognized expert. He was also the inspiration for our first WALK, as we wanted to show him that we shared his concern about the many people suffering from Valley Fever, and would continue working towards a vaccine to prevent it. He passed away that afternoon after hearing from his daughters that the WALK was a success.
We hope you will join us Saturday August 11, 2018!
