Description

It's time for Valérie Jardin's Hit the Streets Worldwide Photo Walk, Vancouver edition.

Join me, Elizabeth Gray, and special guest, Fujifilm X-Photographer Ian MacDonald, on Sunday, February 25th, when we will "Hit the Streets" of Vancouver!

These photowalks will be conducted in the spirit of Valerie Jardin's approach to photography. It's not about gear, it's not about competition, it's about having fun, learning from each other and making new friends. Everyone is welcome. The goal is to spend a fun time with like-minded people who share the same passion for street photography within the Hit The Streets podcast community and beyond http://valeriejardinphotography.com/podcast/
"Hit The Streets Podcast FB group" https: //www.facebook.com/groups/710254289130385/. A community where you can share your passion for street photography and more.

Above all, we need to agree to show respect to all people: Our fellow walkers, our subjects, and the people who will be all around us.

We will limit attendance to 25 people, max.

STARTING POINT:
We will meet at Granville Plaza, just up the stairs from Waterfront Station.
200 Granville St, Vancouver, BC V6C 1S4

Please arrive 15 minutes early (1:45) for a group photo.

Some of the highlights will include photographing around the Vancouver Art Gallery, Robson Square, the Granville Strip, and the Vancouver Library.

We will wrap the walk up about 4:00 at Steamworks in Gastown for a chance to socialize and chat about our experiences.

After the Photowalk please share your 5 best photos with the group "Valerie Jardin's Hit The Streets Worldwide Photowalks" on facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/147526882522498/

I've outlined some of the most important elements above, but please carefully read the following rules of conduct for this event.

RULES OF CONDUCT

Respect for your subject should be your #1 priority!

Please refrain from taking pictures of people in vulnerable or embarrassing situations while on a Hit The Streets photo walk.

Some general rules:

  • Keep in mind the spirit of the walk: To meet new photographer friends. This is not a competition, or a gear show & tell. Everyone is welcome, no matter their level of expertise, experience or gear.
  • We encourage that photographers do not bring children, non-photographer friends, spouses, etc. The goal is to be immersed in the craft. This is your time with your camera.
  • Be on time to start the walk and to finish it.
  • Be courteous to those around you.

Privacy and photography laws are different in every country, in Canada we are permitted to take pictures of people in public places. However, you need to think about the following:

  • When children are involved, ask permission, even with a simple nod to the parents. If no parents are present, use your best judgment and never publish a photograph of a child that could be used inappropriately.
  • Avoid playgrounds, pools.
  • Taking pictures of people in their home without their consent is a violation of privacy.
  • Public restrooms are off limits.
  • In case of conflict with a subject, kindly explain what you are doing, apologize for any discomfort. As a worst case scenario, be prepared to delete your pictures to avoid any confrontation.
  • If the subject is photographed in an embarrassing situation, think twice about posting the picture publicly (humour is fine, ridicule is not). Always put yourself in the shoes of your subject.

Sound good? Sign up and let's get ready to:
