Vail Johnson and the Fusion Kings in the Jazz Cave at the Nashville Jazz Workshop on Saturday, February 25th, 2023. Bandleader and bassist Vail Johnson is joined by Lou Pardini (keys), and Bruce Guttridge (drums). The band takes the stage at 7:30pm CST (Doors at 7:00pm). LIVE PERFORMANCE TICKETS ($35)

VAIL JOHNSON: Why would Arsenio Hall, Herbie Hancock, Keb' Mo',  Kenny G and countless celebrities at the pinnacle of their careers choose to share the limelight with one musician?  Vail Johnson is a talent unbounded by musical genres; an artist who succeeded as a top LA Studio Musician, Internationally Acclaimed Bass Player, Jazz Musician, Band Leader and Solo Performer.

Vail’s music appears in film, TV, on radio and in 6 CD’s that exhibit the depth of his experience. Compositions range from improvisational jazz created with free-form musicians to projects drawing solely upon Vail’s schizophrenic talents as writer, singer, virtuoso and producer. Transcendent in his music is an unequaled voice expressed with 4 strings. You hear melodic tones of Spanish guitar, bluesy finger-picking and monster slapping. You feel samba, funk, blues and rock. Vail’s live performance on bass became something extraordinary, by playing constantly as a member of as many as 10 bands at any given time.

Policies: The Jazz Cave is a BYOB establishment, with no alcohol or food service. You are free to bring alcoholic beverages and snacks. We sell soft drinks and bottled water. The Jazz Cave is a listening room, and we ask patrons to keep conversation to a minimum and silence cell phones. Audio and video recording is prohibited. TICKET SALES ARE FINAL. We do not issue refunds. Masks are recommended for all patrons.

Proceeds from Nashville Jazz Workshop Digital Concerts (if streaming) go to the NJW Artist Fund. The Artist Fund is used to help support and create performance opportunities for area Jazz artists, bringing more Jazz to the community and paying artists for their work.
