The Union Cyclist International (UCI) was founded in Paris in the 1900’s as a governing body worldwide for the sport of cycling. This January, the Tour Down Under will be taking place in Adelaide, South Australia. This particular race brings in cyclists from all over the world and is the first race taking place outside of Europe to achieve ProTour status from the UCI. In honor of this tasting we will feature wines from Clare Valley, Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Valley, and Langhorn. Clare Valley, one of Australia’s oldest wine regions, is known for its spectacular Rieslings and has over 40 wineries that are closely placed together and encouraged to be walked or cycled to and from, known as the Riesling Trail. Adelaide Hills is one of the other oldest wine regions in Australia and the first grape vines ever planted in this region was actually in 1839. McLaren Valley is internationally renowned for the wines that it produces and is best known for its dry red wines. This tasting will make you want to buy a bicycle and cycle from winery to winery across Australia, trying its finest wines!
Walking in, you arrive at a sit down, interactive, wine tasting during which we provide for tasting six to eight new wines to taste and discuss over the one and a half hour period of time allotted to the class. At these gatherings everyone attending brings their own level of knowledge and experiences, adding to the conversation on the wines, regions, and varietals. All levels of wine lovers are welcome! What brings is all together once every week is simply that we LOVE wine!
