Event description

Description

France is home to some of the most famous wine producing regions in the world. From Champagne to Bordeaux to Burgundy, each corner of the country has regions rich with vines and overflowing with quality wines. Join us as we taste through a different selection of French wines each week focusing on the well-known regions and displaying a selection of hand-picked wines from small-growers. Did you know? Champagne: Champagne is divided into three parts-Montagne de Reims, Vallee de la Marne, and Cote des Blancs. Champagne has the lowest average temperature compared to any other French region. Did you know? Loire:. Loire became very popular starting in the middle ages because it was in the heart of France. The wines gained even more popularity when French aristocracy made Loire the “summer retreat” location. Did you know? Bordeaux: Bordeaux wine gained its first major bout of popularity when Henry Plantagenet (king of England, duke, lord of Ireland) and Eleanor of Aquitaine (French woman and one of the wealthiest woman in Europe at that time) got married. Which then led to Bordeaux wine being exported to England. Did you know? Provence: Wine has been made here for over 2,600 years. It is the oldest wine region in France. 88% of the regions wine production is rose. Is home to the only research facility dedicated to rose wine. Did you know? Burgundy: Has the highest number of AOC’s than any other French region. They have over 400 types of soils to grown their grapes from. The main levels of Burgundy classification from best to lower quality is: Grand Crus, Premier Crus, Village appellations, and regional appellations.

Along with the wines showcased for the evening we will also provide light snacks for your pleasure. Please, consider joining us in the midst of a busy week to unwind and take a break from the routines of your normal day to sample some amazing wines while listening to an incredibly well informed speaker about regions and varietals you may not yet have visited or tasted.
