Description

On behalf of the Congressional UXO/Demining Caucus, we are pleased to invite you to the Caucus Kick-Off Reception and Exhibition. This event will be held on Thursday November 29 from 5-7 pm in Cannon 421. The event will feature opening remarks from Caucus co-chairs Reps. Jackie Speier (CA-14) and David Valadao (CA-21), remarks by Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Stability and Humanitarian Affairs Mark Swayne, Director of State Department’s Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (WRA) Stanley L. Brown, and a hands-on display of demining equipment and inert ordnance. Drinks and food will be provided in accordance with Congressional Ethics Rules.

This event is sure to be of interest to members and staff and all others concerned with foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, and human rights.

The UXO/Demining Caucus advocates for the support of life-saving programs that protect communities and serve U.S. security, economic, and political interests abroad. The Caucus has a global interest, as U.S. UXO and mine removal programs have been implemented in more than 100 countries since 1993. Current operations span 45 countries, including Afghanistan, Angola, Armenia, Cambodia, Colombia, Iraq, Kosovo, Laos, Sri Lanka, Syria, and Ukraine.
