UXPALA in partnership with SCWDD are proud to present:
UX Storytelling with Elisabeth Bentley
At its very essence, User Experience is a multi-disciplinary practice. The UX practitioner must be conversant in technical and business requirements but also in design principles, psychology, marketing and communication skills. Harmonizing the needs and working styles of users, stakeholders and creative partners frequently falls to the UX professional in the room, however these ‘soft’ skills are difficult to describe, to teach or even to identify.
Using Aristotle and Joseph Campbell as points of departure, this workshop will explore personas, scenarios and user journeys as tools not only for data-driven design but also as invaluable means of communication. Springboarding off scenarios we will investigate new methods that use story as a nexus between the hard realities of business and technical requirements and the desired goals of intuitive and delightful experiences.
A screenwriter and producer, Lizzy’s films have been invited to Cannes, Sundance, the Berlinale, the Film Society at Lincoln Center and MoMA. In 2007 her screenwriting for NANKING was nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award and short-listed for an Academy Award in the documentary feature category. Throughout her career as a filmmaker and writer Lizzy has made a specialty of crafting dramatic arcs out of nonfictional, primary and archival sources. Crafting narrative and managing research has led Lizzy into the design world where she provides story services in UX research, marketing and branding. Lizzy received her MFA at USC’s School of Cinema/Television and her BA at Harvard.
