Welcome to the fifth annual UX Fair, an afternoon jam-packed with UX goodness. This event is for students, career changers, and UX professionals new to the field who want to network with others. We will have thought leaders on hand to provide mentoring and career guidance throughout the afternoon. Stop by for a chance to hobnob with UX unicorns and other celebrities.

OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER
  • Mary Ann Brody is a user experience leader who helps teams tap into their natural curiosities and brings an empathetic approach to technical work. She is currently leading design research and consumer product development at Devoted Health. Prior to working at Devoted Health, Mary Ann served as a member of President Obama’s United States Digital Service (USDS), where she helped to help make government services easier for all Americans to access and use. At USDS, she built a user research team to support the Veteran-centered design and development of Vets.gov. Mary Ann has a Masters in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

OUR PRESENTER
  • Jen McGinn is the Head of UX at Veracode, a 700-person cyber-security company where she leads a 15-person team of UX designers, researchers, and writers. Jen has spent the last 15 years working as a UX leader, designer, and user researcher at companies including Oracle, Nokia, CA Technologies, and Sun Microsystems. Jen teaches courses on UX process and Customer Experience at Brandeis and Bentley University and has a BS in Information Systems Management, and an MS in Human Factors in Information Design.

OUR CAREER PANEL
  • Chris LaRoche is a user experience consultant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His works focuses on researching and evaluating the accessibility and usability of Web sites and software. His interest also includes promoting inclusive design. He has worked as a technical writer, information designer, user researcher, and consultant in his career. Chris has worked at Northeastern University, Autodesk, Sun Microsystems, Genuity/BBN, Domain Pharma, Fidelity Investments, Paragon Imaging, HR Block, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has an MS in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University.

  • Eva Kaniasty is the founder of Slipper Studios, a user experience consultancy providing UX strategy, research and interaction design since 2010. Eva has improved user experiences in a range of industries, including healthcare, education, financial, and software. She received her Master's in Human Factors from Bentley University, chairs the User-Centered Design program at Brandeis University’s Graduate Professional Studies division, and is the former president of UXPA Boston.

  • Debra Reich has been developing products for over 25 years. She has worked in various industries including healthcare, computer peripherals, software services, and consumer electronics. Her work has been focused on innovation and the user experience across both hardware and software platforms. She is currently a Product Concept Strategist in the Wellness Division of Bose Corporation where she is part of a multidisciplinary team that focuses on the ‘fuzzy front end’ of the development process. Debra has a BFA in Industrial Design from Carnegie Mellon University and an MS in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University.

  • Susan Rice leads user experience strategy, research, and design at Toast Inc., where the team is revolutionizing the restaurant industry to empower restaurants to delight guests, do what they love, and thrive. She has deep expertise in both B2B and B2C applications and is passionate about motivating and coaching team members for growth in a psychologically safe and fun environment. Susan holds a M.S. in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University and a B.A. in Psychology from U.C. Santa Barbara. She’s actively involved in the UX community and has presented on Design Thinking, UX strategy and organizational change.

  • Jennifer Smith leads the User Experience design practice at American Graphics Institute. She teaches classes on UX, information architecture, mobile design, and related areas and leads a team of instructors and consultants. She provides UX consulting and training to firms and organizations across a wide spectrum of industries including insurance, financial services, education, business services, government agencies, and IOT device developers. Jennifer has served as designer in residence at Microsoft and has been named a Most Valuable Partner by Microsoft for three years for her contributions to UX design.   • Coffee and snacks will be provided during the afternoon break.
  • No refunds after November 7th, but you can transfer your ticket to a friend or co-worker using Eventbrite.
