PSSIGCHI presents: UX Contracting 2021

About this event

Event Description

In the Seattle area, UX contract opportunities abound. Traditionally, many junior UXers have used contractor positions to get their foot in the door, and senior UXers have also advanced their career further through vendor roles at large corporations. While there’s no shortage of UX contractor positions today, the pandemic has slightly shifted the landscape of contracting as well. In this panel, featuring 2 UXers who were formerly contractors and 2 recruiters who help people get contracting roles, we will address questions such as:

  • Is contracting work still the best way for emerging UX professionals to get their foot in the door? What are the pros and cons of contracting?
  • Opportunities for senior UXers to do contracting - Why should they consider contracting? What can they gain from it?
  • How did COVID change the landscape and reality of contracting? What new opportunities did it open up?
  • Does conversion to full-time roles really happen? If so, how can we make it happen?
  • How should you look for your next gig while contracting?
  • When is the best time to leave?
